As much as I'd like to comment, I will avoid doing so as to avoid spoiling anything about the ending. You have no idea how hard this is for me.

Anyway, with this, the series is over. It's been a fun two and a half years, and I have to say I've gotten really attached to the series so I'm a little sad to see it end. However, with that said, we are planning on putting out the volumes at some point. This was something I'd been intending to do for a long time, but I've actually got a serious start on them now, so hopefully those'll get done before too long. Still, it'll be a little while, and since there aren't any humongous changes, they're not our first priority at the moment.

We at [XLG] hope you've enjoyed this series as much as we have! And remember to buy the volumes to support the author (volume 6 comes out October 20th)! Manga authors can't live without sales! Let's hope tenkla's able to get a new series running soon!

Things are getting a little crazy, but that's just the way I like it.

Just as a reminder/warning, this series uses a lot of vague dialogue for foreshadowing and suspense and it's apparently thrown some red herrings at us. Although I do the best I can with the information I have, doing a smooth translation from Japanese to English without a subject or context is a very, very difficult thing to do. I do have to infer some things sometimes in order to write English sentences, and if the author's trying to mislead the readers to surprise them later, I can possibly infer the "wrong" information. This isn't as big of a problem by the time the volumes come out, but take certain scenes in the serialized version with a grain of salt. I can say my translation is maybe about 97% certain, but I can't account for the remaining 3% until later chapters come out and I can be sure of what certain characters are talking about.
THE BOTTOM LINE: The volume translations should be fine, but the serialized versions may have wonky foreshadowing.

With that said, volume 3 is coming out September 9th. We'll be doing it as soon as we can, and you can preorder it already on Amazon if you're so inclined (support authors, buy manga!!).

All right, volume 1's a wrap, barring any fatal mistakes I have not yet found (unlikely). There were some formatting changes I made for consistency and the files look a little better with the tradeoff that the filesizes are slightly bigger.

Now as for volume 2, we're not expecting it to be released for at least another 6 months or so, unfortunately. The series is bimonthly, and each chapter is generally 16 pages, so it takes about two years for roughly a single volume of content to be produced. If there's enough demand, we could potentially begin doing the series from magazine raws, but I'd rather not for two big reasons. Reason number 1: With no Bakekano to work on, we're completely free to (hopefully) finish up Iinari! Aibu-ration and catch up a little on REC. Reason number 2: Magazine raws are lower quality, and while we could technically do the magazine version now and the better volume version later, I personally would rather not do the same thing twice where it's avoidable. I like to do high quality versions of things, but looking at my own past, we never got around to doing the HQ volumes for School Days or Yakuza Girl, so I'd rather do Bakekano with no regrets.

A Yomeiro-Choice chapter with virtually no comedy. Who'da thunk.

The final chapter will be in the next issue of Champion RED, which should be out in roughly 3 weeks. We'll translate it as soon as we get it!

This month had two very short "extra" chapters instead of a main story chapter. They're the same kind of thing that "Case X" at the end of volume 2 was. They're not numbered and Shouji Sato hasn't updated his website with chapter numbers, so I'll just call them "Extra" for now. The date is the issue of Dragon Age it was published in, in case there are more unnumbered "extra" chapters in the future.

Shouji Sato says in the author comments of the issue that the reason for the low amount of content this month is because he's busy with work preparing volume 3 of the tankoubon. Apparently there are going to be quite a few changes and additions, so that's something to look forward to. Just between you and me though, I think part of the reason for the short chapters this month is because he's also working on his doujinshi for the upcoming Comiket in August.

Also included in this chapter is the first part of a new illustration series featuring both Highschool of the Dead and Triage X characters. Highschool of the Dead appears to be back on indefinite hiatus, so this is supposed to serve as some kind of filler. The image included with the chapter is only 1600 px high, but you can get a much larger version which I posted on Danbooru.

I can't think of anything more to say that will break your spirit, so I'll just make it a simple "Enjoy!" this time around.

Hmm... It's been too long. We're a whopping four chapters behind. I'll see how quickly I can get the next few chapters out.

Now, forgive me, but I have something kind of serious I wanted to mention here that I feel you should all be aware of. I hope Tokyo's infamous "Healthy Youth Development" bill needs no introduction. If you're unaware of what it is, check on anime-related news sites or Google "Bill 156" and you should find a wealth of information on it. Please don't use certain sensational tabloid sites as your primary source though; this is not a "ban." It's something intended primarily to scare publishers into regulating themselves, much like the MPAA film rating system for movies and the ESRB for video games in the United States. If something receives too high a rating, most retailers won't stock it, so it essentially forces publishers to tone content down to avoid getting an 18+ rating.

As the date that the bill comes into effect draws near, Yomeiro-Choice seems to be nearing its end (granted, it's not a sure thing, but you'll see what I mean in the next couple chapters... the series seems likely to end within the next few months). On top of that, the graphic content in recent chapters appears to be toned down considerably compared to earlier chapters. Normally, I would say you should get out and actively do something to try to get the bill repealed, but since most of you are probably not Japanese people living in Japan, I don't think there's really anything you CAN do, aside from buying volumes of series like this to support creators and publishers who release this material. It's a sad reality, but there's a chance that we won't be seeing series like this anymore in the future, and as English-speaking fans living overseas, we're practically helpless. My only advice is that if you want to support the series/author/publisher, you better do it now, because there's a decent chance this won't be getting reprinted in the future.

Sorry to make this such a downer of a post, but I wanted to be frank, and I want you to understand that the new regulations are most likely going to have a serious effect on the kinds of series that we (XLG) translate for you. Series like Triage X, Fire Fire Fire, and School Days are probably safe, but series like Yomeiro-Choice, Bakekano, Yakuza Girl, and even Iinari! Aibu-ration and Alice no Hyakudo CC are all liable to come under government scrutiny or be toned down or canceled by their publisher to avoid problems, unless the bill is repealed.

With that said... Try to enjoy the chapter.

Sorry if it's a little confusing, but if the last chapter you read was 11, you haven't missed anything!

Also, I'd like to apologize for not having more stuff out recently. I guess it's not so unusual for us, but I'd wanted to get more done the last few weeks. Happy April Fool's! Remember that oneshot we translated where we said we wouldn't do the original series? Well guess what: we're doing the original series. The joke is that it's not a joke. :D

Normally it would go without saying, but there are a few parts that are kind of extreme and I wish to stress here: we have not altered the artwork. It was actually drawn that way!

Hey, it's been a while, eh? We're a few chapters behind now, so I'll see if we can't get caught all up in the next week or two.

Although I wanted to do the volumes, it seems some people are a little impatient, so I decided to go ahead and release this. I'm not going to lie: it looks like crap. The printing is just awful, and it doesn't help that the series uses so much black. But I guess you can at least tell what's going on for the most part.

Also, the dialogue in certain parts is a little vague so I had to make some assumptions to make it sound decent in English. Point is, this dialogue may change by the time we do the volume if a contradiction comes up later. It should be okay for the most part though.

If you want my opinion on this, considering the series was forced to end before it was supposed to, I think it could have been a LOT worse. Not everything's wrapped up, but enough of it's wrapped up that the wait for a sequel shouldn't be too excruciating, plus there were some new factors added in that could make a sequel even more interesting than the first series. Nothing too unbelievable happened, and I was very happy to finally see a few things I'd been hoping for.

And OHHH YES, if you want to help increase the chances of a sequel being made, you can help its chances by... buying the volumes of this series from any online retailer such as amazon.co.jp. The only way any publisher would see potential in picking up a cult series like this is by thinking it'd be profitable, so why not show them that it is! Plus you'd be supporting Shouji Sato. Search for "FIRE FIRE FIRE" or "トリプルファイヤー" at any online retailer that sells Japanese manga, and clench your teeth as you either pay a lot for shipping or get it sent by boat and wait a couple months. Volume 1 is out now, and volume 2 is coming out in April.

The HQ versions we promised will probably be released sometime after the second volume comes out.

Missed January 1st by a few hours. Darn!

Just as a reminder, this is an "LQ" chapter. It's certainly readable and the translation isn't going to be changing too much, but some of the editing is a little ugly.

I think this is where the series starts to really pick up. If the first three chapters were an introduction and chapter 4was a diversion, then chapter 5 is where the meat of the story begins. But I guess my opinion doesn't matter too much. This chapter is short, but there's actually a fair amount of content and quite a bit of dialogue.

This is, without a doubt, one of the strangest chapters in the whole series thus far. Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing... Enjoy!

These are both pretty minor updates actually, but they were things that had been bugging me for a while, and I can be pretty OCD sometimes. :P

For volume 1, the levels were redone and the filters were removed giving it the same grainy appearance as our volume 2 release, which is how the series was printed and thus how we believe we should present it to you. The redone levels should make it easier to see details in the dark scenes and some gradients may be more visible as well. In addition, the text was all reformatted to be consistent with volume 2 and a few lines of dialogue were polished to be a little easier to understand.

For volume 2, the main thing I did was remove most of the moire so the art should look a little better now. I also fixed two or three typos but other than that, I think it's pretty much untouched from our original release.

Like I said, the update is pretty minor, and the translation hasn't changed in either volume. If you want to update your archives or reread the volumes, that's up to you.

Dang, we're on a roll, huh? A whole volume in less than a week. That's gotta be some kind of record for us.

The reason that "story arc" was in quotations for my post for chapter 2 is because it ended in only 2 chapters. Things are picking up in the series, and we'll probably have the next chapter out within the next couple days. But for now, just sit back and enjoy this one!

A new series! Well, kind of. If you'd been following us on the forums and IRC channel you would know that we've actually been working on this since it started serialization a couple years ago.

Fire Fire Fire is another series from Shouji Sato, the artist of Highschool of the Dead and author of Triage X, but this series has a much lighter atmosphere than those two. Unfortunately, the anthology Fire Fire Fire was running in was canceled, forcing it to end prematurely in volume 2. When we finish the series I don't want to hear any complaints about the ending! :P Hopefully it'll get a continuation someday, but let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet...

I've had the translation of this particular chapter done for quite a while (around 2 years), and it seems we've been a little overly lethargic on getting this ready for release! Think of this chapter release as a preview of things to come (the cleaning was a bit rushed, but it will look better in the final version). On a side note, volume 1's print quality was pretty shockingly bad compared to the original serialized release, so our final plan is to release volume 1 using pages from both the volume and the serialization for maximum quality and content. This chapter is just the serialized version, though.

In any case, enjoy! It's the start of a very entertaining series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Unfortunately the series wasn't in last month's Dragon Age, so with this volume, as of this writing, you're actually all caught up to the Japanese releases of the series. There also probably won't be any new chapters for at least 3 months, thanks to a combination of Highschool of the Dead and Winter Comiket.

Of course we don't do the magazine versions of the chapters, but what this means for you is that it will probably be at least a year until volume 3 is out. Thankfully though, volume 2 actually leaves off on a good spot. It wraps up the first major story arc pretty tidily and only barely introduces the next story, so don't be afraid to give the series a read.

WHAT THE??? A new chapter of WHAT? That's right, it's the shounen pissing manga you've come to love (or hate)!

So why did this take so long? WELL, the series was on hiatus for a year and a half or so in Japan, but it came back and has actually ended already (at volume 4), so this chapter is actually out a lot later than we originally intended. Hey, things happen. With any luck, the next chapter won't take nearly as long, but I guess we'll see, eh? ;P

Since the series' title formally has an official romanization now, we decided to also go back and correct all instances of the title in volume 1 and 2, and while we were at it, do a little bit of touching up of some dialogue. We also figured it was about time for the Alice no Hyakudo CC complete volume as well, so you can download that from its respective page by clicking RELEASES up there and scrolling down to "Completed Projects." I should note that there aren't actually any HUGE changes in either of the updated Iinari volumes or in the Alice volume, so if you want to update your archives or read them again, that's entirely up to you.

So, with so much piss on one day, September 30th 2010 shall forever be known as Pissmas.

The HotD anime's started (go check it out if you haven't already!), and as a result we've been getting way more traffic than usual since last week. So, the DDL links for HotD have been taken down temporarily during the boom to help save bandwidth. Sorry for the inconvenience, but if you want to download any HotD (including this chapter) just use the mirrors or get it from our IRC channel for the time being (as of this writing, chapter 26 is not yet available on the IRC channel, so be careful). This shouldn't make it too hard to get for most of you, I imagine, but it's definitely worth a mention, so there ya go.

Next HotD chapter is due out in September, and it looks like the series is going to be running pretty irregularly for the foreseeable future; Shouji Sato is taking a break next month (most likely due to Comiket) and the next Triage X chapter will be out in October, almost certainly running in HotD's place for that month. Let me again take this space to recommend that you read Triage X if you want more from the artist of HotD! It's similarly sexy and violent, plus it has the same great art you've come to expect. We've translated the first volume, and are waiting for volume 2 to be released to continue.

Wow, 60 pages... Once again, due to a lack of raws, the chapter was scanned completely by us. :P And what a chapter... But let me take this space to fill you in on some updates regarding the series.

• Highschool of the Dead is going on a short hiatus for two months after this. Chapter 26 will be available in the August issue of Dragon Age, on sale July 9th.
• For the next couple months, Triage X is supposed to be running in HotD's place, which means that volume 2 of Triage X will most likely come out around July or August, as we predicted before.
• We have no idea what the status of HotD is after the August issue, so don't bother asking. Chances are that it'll become monthly until it ends (or the writer craps out again), which would cause Triage X to go on indefinite hiatus, or it'll become bimonthly, alternating months with Triage X. It could even be something else, like HotD gets 6 chapters in a row, then Triage X gets 6 chapters in a row... Really, though, we have no idea. These are just guesses.
• Volume 6 of HotD also comes out July 9th. We'll probably be doing the same HQ treatment we gave to the previous volumes.
• A spin-off manga of HotD is also starting next month, and it's going to be written by Hiroshi Tamaru (this is the guy the character Hiro Tamaru was based on, similarly to how Kohta Hirano is based on the real-life Kouta Hirano). We're expecting it to be comedy like his past works, but we won't have any idea what it's like until next month. We may end up translating it, but we'll decide that once we actually get a look.
• The anime is also starting in July! Just to make it perfectly clear, it is a TV series, not an OVA or movie. You can view the official trailer HERE.
• The voice actors for the anime series are supposed to be revealed in next month's Dragon Age.

Here's a oneshot that was published in the magazine Champion RED. Bakekano is in fact a series that runs in RED's sister magazine Champion RED Ichigo. This is basically just a simple stand-alone story involving the characters, we have no plans to translate the origional series. If any of you out there would like to however, then be our guest.

A new series! And the whole first volume (five 32+ page chapters) at that! To be honest, calling this a "new series" wouldn't be totally accurate, because I've been working on this translation since the series started in Japan almost a year ago.

This is the series that took Highschool of the Dead's place when that went on hiatus, so if you like HotD, definitely give this a look. Being by the same artist, they're similar in many respects and fans of HotD should find a lot to like here. (Don't blame Shouji Sato for the HotD hiatus, though! That was Daisuke Sato's fault, and if Shouji didn't start Triage X then he would have been without work!)

Anyway, this release wouldn't have been possible without the excellent work of Stand Alone Scanlations, so pop in and give them a visit to thank them for the great editing job if you get the chance. Thanks a lot, guys!

Now, as for the future of this series, the magazine scans of the chapters don't normally get scanned, so it may be a long wait until volume 2 (we're expecting it to be out in July or August). But try to look on the bright side: you'll get a bunch of chapters at once and you'll never have to deal with a censored version!

As promised, here's chapter 24 of Highschool of the Dead. Why did so many people doubt that we would put it out after we clearly said we would be doing it? In any case, here it is now!

By the way, we're aware there's some scanlation of the chapter done from Chinese floating around, but all we can say is that we highly recommend reading a straight Japanese-to-English translation like ours over something like that. A lot gets lost when translating between three languages, you know, and apparently the pages were out of order...

You should be happy to know that we included a promotional article with images from the upcoming anime series with the chapter. Aside from that, we did our best to produce a high quality scan and translation as quickly as possible (in spite of my finals being this week ;_;) so we really hope you enjoy it...

Our plans are to translate from the magazine initially. The status of the series after those two chapters are released is as of yet unknown, but keep your fingers crossed for it to stay off hiatus...

In addition, HOTD will be getting an anime series, animated by Madhouse! There's little information available on when it'll be out yet, but that should be something to look forward to.

Here, have another couple oneshots. These are by Chizuna Nakajima, the author of Iinari! Aibu-ration and Alice no Hyakudo CC. Unlike his other series, these aren't about peeing. For that matter, they're not really particularly insane in any way, contrary to everything else we've been translating lately. Now before you start rioting in the streets, give these a chance; they're not half bad.

Toriko no Onna no Ko is about a high school girl who moves in with a family friend, but there's something strange about her... Nuku Nuku Toshoiin is about... well, nothing really. If you like light hints of yuri and a relaxing atmosphere, then you should find it enjoyable.

A very scary Yomeiro-Choice for October...

Today we present you with two oneshots by Doi Sakazaki! Although it's not "officially" confirmed, there's a lot of evidence that suggests that Doi Sakazaki is the same person as tenkla (the author of Yomeiro-Choice) but with a different penname.

Anyway, the oneshots are Portball!, the story of a girl's portball team fighting for its right to exist, and Boin Tantei vs. Kaitou Sanmensou, which is about a detective duo's battle of wits with a world-famous thief. Both are insane ecchi gag/parody stories that may be even crazier than Yomeiro-Choice... With that said, enjoy!

Volume 1 includes chapter 1-6, and this batch has some minor editing fixes and rewritten lines here and there. The most notable change is that the two-page spreads are now edited together by Yeo (no more white space in the middle of the big images), so much thanks to him~

Two super awesoem chapters for your enjoyment~ Now, you could say that we've been holding out on you, but... Yeah okay it's probably true. ;)

We've also been reworking the HQ volume releases, makign them EVEN MOAR awesoem. That includes an entirely redone, clearer translation, and overall better everything.

We'd like to take this opportunity to release Volume 1 and 2 in their super HQ redux versions. These two had the most changes of the set, but the rest will be released in the near future.

Now for the bad news...

If you hadnt heard, HSotD has been put on hiatus in Japan. We dont know when, or even if it will EVER be resumed.

Yeah, we know, that really sucks. There is something everyone can do to help though...

It has been far too long since out last release, and for that we apoligise. We hope to never let this happen again, but whatever... ^^

Bandai has announced that they have licensed Lucky Star in North America, as such we will no longer be continuing the series.

Now as for why we were down the entirety of January... Yeah, we put a little too much trust in new hardware, what a fiasco. Awesome new server, but for some messed up reason, it REFUSES to run continuously for more than a day or two while under load...

SO needless to say, we're back on the old server... Sure its a little slow, (you guys hit it pretty damn hard ;]) but hey at least it's functional. Maby there's some truth in that old saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it...

A real news post is forthcoming (i.e. one that actually has some news), and well yeah... x_x

This series is really starting to get good, it follows a different path from the anime, so it should be interesting... ^^

Also note, we noticed that these chapters are actually called 'PAGE's by the author, but due to the confusion such a naming scheme would likely cause, we have opted to continue calling them chapters. ;)

An awesome series, we noticed that the manga wasnt getting much attention, so maby we can fix that ;)

(Same team as is on HSotD)

It has come to my attention that a vast majority of you are still using Internet Explorer to browse the internet... You should seriously consider getting an alternate browser. IE is not the best designed or secure thing out there, often allowing websites to install spyware onto your computer without your knowledge. :/ Knowing this why would you keep using it? My personal favorite browser is Firefox. Firefox is secure, blocks popups, protects against malware, and has a wonderfull thing known as tabbed browsing, which allows you to open more than one page in a single window. If you havent already, you should switch immediately. Your computer will thank you.
